CEEF at conference “Achieving social, environmental and economic sustainability through EE”

As a part of CENEP project CEEF took part at a two-day conference “Achieving Social, Environmental and Economical Sustainability Through Energy Efficiency“. The conference gathered 113 representatives of governmental, business and civil society sectors from all parts of Croatia as well as the neighbouring countries.

During the first day the speakers discussed the key issues and fields to which energy efficiency can contribute the most. These are primarily: security of energy supply, decrease of energy poverty, environmental protection and tackling of the climate change, job creation and economical development.
The second day was dedicated to three workshops: Role of Media and Journalists in Promoting Energy Efficiency, Financing Energy Efficiency Programmes and Social and Environmental Protection through Energy Efficiency, during which the participants had the opportunity to share experiences and come to some new conclusions.
Since the participants have different professional backgrounds, it didn’t come as a surprise that many questions arose during the first day, as well as the tendency to question the speakers’ statements. Consequently, during the workshops held on the second day, a number of fertile discussions were initiated.
A wide range of participants proves that the subject of energy efficiency requires the involvement of a broad range of experts, as well as the concerned public. A great number of questions shows us that the interest in the subject already exists, that further education is necessary and that the interdisciplinary approach is inevitable.
